Amanda got her braces this month!

Amanda, Joshua and Caleb found this in the garden with the metal detector.

Earnestine (lying down) and Little May were attacked by something this month.
Earnestine is part Angora. Little May is her daughter and is part Boer.

Susan and Vencil came to visit us for a weekend!

The sunflowers growing beside the house.

Chloe's pups left for new homes.

We started on the
fencing we need to replace for the goats that we lost during
Isabel.
Brandon is learning how to work the auger.
PTL for the auger. It makes the job go a lot faster and easier.

Brandon running the auger.

Clint cutting a path with our tough little mower.

Amanda wants to try and gets a lesson from Dad.

Amanda running the auger on her own.

Amanda and the boys
explored the path and found a Easter Box Turtle crossing.
Everyone knows how much I like turtles so they bring them all to
me.
Always wash your hands after handling any animal, even household
pets. Turtles can carry salmonella.

You can tell it is a
male because of the concave plastron (bottom shell) which allows
for mating
Females have a slightly convex plastron to accommodate eggs.

This turtle has burns to
it's carapace and is missing several scutes.
We figure this happened during the wild fire this past spring.
The carapace is the top part of the shell and is comprise of
around 50 separate, but fused bones.

The soon to be new
pasture. You can see the first post for the back line of fence
next to the red wagon.
There is actually a wooden fence inside of the thick bushes, but
we can't get to it so we went in front of it.

That's an incredibly hard working lawn mower!

We had to put it where the lawn mower
could cut, so it meanders.
We also went around trees to give the animals shade and
windbreak.
Some of the trees will double as fence posts.

We found this bird's
nest along the path.
While the picture does not show it, the bird who built it weaved
a snake skin into her nest.

Joshua foreground, Caleb asking "What are you doing Mom?" in the middle, Brandon background.

Spot was showing off for
a puppy and landed himself in a tree.
Yes, he needed help to get down.

This is Zach sitting on a chair during school. He was born without eyeballs (anopthalmia), but gets along just fine without them. He likes to sit in a chair at the table while homeschool is going on. He often will sit up, place his paws on their books and pull them onto the floor. Sometimes he will bite the edge of the book and pull them to the floor with his teeth. This is Zach's way of saying "You're spending all of that time with a book when you could be petting me?!"

Brandon learned not to pick on Mom.
Not really.... I am expecting a bucket
of cold water to be dumped on my head any day now. :-)
Teenagers are fun!!

Our first baby goats since Hurricane
Isabel!
2 girls and 1 boy
We have the little one in the house to bottle feed.
