Comfrey Cradle Cap Remedy

1 quart of water

2 ounces cut, dried Comfrey root

Put the water and Comfrey Root in a covered pot and bring to a boil, then let simmer for 15-20 minutes. Strain and discard root pieces. Cool. Store in refrigerator between use up to 4 days.

To use: Apply with a patting motion to the infant's scalp before bath, let sit 10 minutes to soften the cradle crap. Then wash. You can use this to wash with. Apply lightly after shampoo. This takes 7-10 days. If condition doesn't improve, consult a dr.

Mineral Oil Cradle Cap Remedy

Massage mineral oil (baby oil) into scalp before bath time. Let soak into scalp and soften cradle cap. Then shampoo as normal or with a soft bristled brush. Repeat at each bath time until condition improves. If it is not better in 7-10 days, consult a dr.

Calendula Ointment

2 ounces of freshly picked Calendula

7 ounces of Vaseline

When Vaseline is melted over low heat, add the Canlendula and bring mixture to a boil, simmer for about 12 minutes, stirring well. Strain through fine gauze or cotton squeezing out all of the liquid (a press works well for this). Pour contents into a container (reuse the Vaseline container).

Note: It is best to do this in a steel pot. Take precautions to avoid burns.

To use: Rub on minor localized skin irritations. Calendula has anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties.

Insect Repellent

8 ounces of carrier oil (almond or olive)

40 drops Pennyroyal Oil

40 drops Citronella Oil

40 drops Cedarwood Oil

40 drops Eucalyptus Oil

40 drops Aloe Vera Oil

2 capsules of Vitamin E (preservative)

You can add 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol and 1/4 cup of water to thin this out, but left as is will last longer.

Our family has used this insect repellent with very good results.
